It seemed a little box so I wondered if they'd sent the right size. But when I opened it, the side pads were all vacuum packed and sprung to the right size. There's a zip around the base - you slot in the pads from below and zip up. We were a little concerned when reading the reviews mentioning the dog playing with the detached inned cushion - our 10-month old pup chews things and pulls around things and shreds things. (The toy they included lasted about 30 minutes...) However, apart from trying to drag it across the floor when it was first assembled, he hasn't bothered at all. We got the medium one - he is a 45 lb (so far) English Springer and there's lots of room for him. He obviously loves it and sprawls all over it, and hasn't noticed the cushion is loose. It arrived several days before the listed earliest delivery date.

The material of the bed was what I imagined, but I did not like the fact that the inner cushion was not attached. This only encourages a dog to want to play with the bed and throw it around. If your dog likes to destroy and play with pillows this is not the bed for you. I am very disappointed since this unattached cushion was not mentioned in the product description.

Have you ever started writing a review for an Amazon product while you were assembling it? This was it for me. In the Amazon picture the bed looks substantial, comfy, and durable. In reality the fabric and stuffing are so very cheap. The impression I get is a paper towel throw away bed. Remember handi-wipes? This bed is that quality. So very frustrating because I chose a bed at a tractor trailer store, same price, and thought I would be getting such a better deal through Amazon. The description says the sides are 6 inches, reality, a scant 5 inches. And the filling is lumpy and hard on the floor. Really sorry for not staying local on this purchase. I do have to say that the color is true to the description. I also thought it was absurd they would bother with a zipper and water proof lining, this bed will never survice a wash.

To say the least our little one Dex, loves his new bed. It took him little time to realize that it would become his favorite nap spot. We had traveled to friends house and Dex proceeded to use their dogs bed. He never seemed to enjoy the one we previosly had, think it may have been to big. This is just the right size for our little shitzu. Just wish there was extra padding in the bottom, but glad that it came with a small pillow insert. He curls up nicely and loves to hang his head over the front.

The bed I ordered for my Dalmatian is very soft and cuddly. He loves it! I would order from this company again. The shipping was fast too.
