Nice carry tripod Oct 27, 2007
By Amourdutigre The U9000 is a well made tripod for what it is intended to be used for. I use it as a carry tripod, to use with modern light weight Canon digital and 35mm SLR cameras, and not too heavy or long lenses.
If you need something that will hold a 600mm f/2.1 lens or a 8X10 Horseman, then this is not the tripod to use. If however, you need something that can easily be carried in the field for more than a few hundered yards, this is the tripod to use as long as it is not overloaded.
It comes with a well made carry case. I modified my camera bag (Canon DG200) with sewn and riveted balistic nylon straps to attach the tripod case, so that all I have to do is put my backpack on, sling the camera bag over my shoulder, make sure the GPS is working and be off.
I highly recomend this unit to the beginning and experianced field photographer.

This is a great tripod Sep 29, 2005
By video academic What a great buy! This is light, comes with its own carrying case, is very smooth and versatile in its movements. We have more expensive tripods that are not as nice.

a solid value Feb 25, 2010
By Dull Tools I like this tripod. The build quality is solid and the motion is smooth. The setup is quick and the unit is lightweight. I've used it with my camcorder and found the panning quite satisfactory. The carry case is nice and durable and has plenty of space for extras. I feel the construction is solid, a good value. Its great for a home user looking for a quality tripod.

Good Tripod May 10, 2010
By P. Yu This is my first tripod that I have owned and could not be happier. I've used my friend's tripods and they do not compare to this one. So far all the tilts, swivels and panning are smooth and easy to adjust. I have only used it indoors and it is quite sturdy even when fully extended. At full extension, I have a good view of the screen on the camera/camcorder (I am 5'11" or 180cm) without breaking my back. I have been using this with a 15.9oz (~450g or 1lbs) camera/camcorder with no issues. Everything locks in place nicely and the carry bag is great. I can fit my chargers inside with the tripod. It's also nice and lightweight. I am very happy with this purchase and recommend this to any amateur photo/video enthusiast looking for a decent tripod. Hope this helps.

A good sturdy tripod Sep 05, 2009
By M. Ward I picked this up as my higher end tripod got lost in a recent move. This one is sturdy, lightweight and easy to use. I have a DSLR, so I wanted to be sure that this would handle it, and it does, however you really have to tighten the screw A LOT (more than I remember having to do on my other tripod, which is the reason I gave it 4/5 stars) which makes me fearful that it's going to get stripped out sometime. Once it's on there more than securely, it won't budge. I can tilt the camera to a vertical position and it doesn't slip to view the ground. It holds nice and steady. I've used it for some HDR, and it's really stable. I love that it comes with a carrying case, makes it easy to bring along w/out weighing you down. If you're looking for something that's inexpensive, but still good quality, this one won't disappoint you.
