Easy to use May 08, 2010
By James D. Atchley

It is very easy to manipulate from the start. It didn't take very long to get worked in. My only problem with the clay is that it isn't very hard and doesn't stand straight when working with it. I would use this most for making prints and stamps not so much figurines and such. But it fires well in the oven and is easy for children to use because of its soft texture.

just about perfect Jan 09, 2007
By C. D. Melton This stuff is just about perfect, the only flaw being that it will get crumbly after a while and then has to be rolled out and mixed with the reconditioner, which is sold seperately. I bought 4 of these big boxes for my daughter (8 yr old) for christmas and she loves it. Just leave plenty of space on the mantle for all the masterpieces.

A Great Poylmer Clay Package! May 04, 2011
By Molly Martino

I have used this product for years now and enjoy having stock on hand when I feel the urge to switch from stoneware clay sculptures to this fun plastic clay that requires "no kiln firings". I have also mixed it with other Sculpty clays, reason being mostly is to gain more plasticity after the oven firing, where the pieces are not so fragile & may break easily. Check your Sculpty supplier for information or google Sculpty Clay and there should be a description to what each type of Sculpty clay there is and the best uses for them.
I want a softer, slightly pliable end product after the oven baking period and I get that when I mix the right Sculpty clays. All of my miniature sculptures come out amazingly detailed, so the heat does not affect small detail. I use those lovely chalk pallettes in various hues and brush them onto my work "before" I bake them. The heat then sets those colors in. You can also paint over this process if you want more vibrant colors using acrylics. As the chalks basically are mostly pastels and even the darker color chalks will never come out vibrant, but it is a nice effect worth practicing with for a different finished look. It actually makes the white Sculpty clay appear to be porcelain in nature.
Normally I seal the finished baked pieces using the clear Sculpty sealer but I have also used a clear glossy varnish as well. I like to experiment. This clay does make excellant stamps that I use with my stoneware clays too. This clay picks up the small details if you are forming the clay over an obect to make a 3-D mold/stamp of. I have made many. They last for years.Bottom line, this is a great fun clay!

Awesome sculpey clay! Aug 28, 2011
By cesar I bought this clay to make some little figurines and play around. It's awesome! It's hard enough for you to sculp tiny details without destroying everything but it's also soft enough to sculp anything you want. It's very white and once you cook it, you can paint it. I used an acrylic paint to color my clay figures. Once you cook them they're pretty sturdy. If anyone wants to see what I did with the clay I posted a video on YouTube. My channel name is zzezah@YouTube in case anyone wants to take a look. This clay is great for kids to play with and start expression themselves! It's great for adults too. I play around with it to relive stress or when I'm bored.
