Good, but not great. Sep 18, 2007

First of all, it is a really good deal for what you get. The bulbs alone are $30 each. The bag and stands are high quality and the umbrella's are, well, umbrella's. My issue with this set-up is that it's simply not bright enough. They say an 85 watt flourecent bulb is equal to a 250 watt tungesen bulb, but it's not even close. I cannot get enough light on my subject to achieve *decent* shutter speeds, let alone the fast speeds you would expect in a studio. I did a quick test using my camera's exposure metering system, and i found I needed a shutter 4x longer with this bulb when compared to a $4 tungsen 300 watt. This might not be as big a problem as it is if this kit included reflectors to concentrate the light down somewhat; this light set up is like a lantern, lighting up the whole room and wasting most of the light where you don't need it. Ok, so just buy a reflector? I haven't been able to find one that will fit this kit -- I haven't looked too hard, but the ones I have seen on amazon are around $30 or more; the $9 Walmart ones don't fit. I gave the kit 4 stars because it was very good quality and at a very attractive price. I'm currently using the kit with tungsen bulbs and am very happy with the results, so if anyone wants 2 $30 florescent bulbs...

Highly Recommended Jun 10, 2010

I'm a wedding and portrait photographer and do most of my work in churches, banquet halls, etc. I was using a portable hot light set that I had put together myself and was lugging it around in a make-shift case that wasn't working very well. I needed something that was easier to transport, more professional looking, and with more light. When I saw the SP2700 kit I knew I had found what I was looking for. It comes in a nice, professional-looking case. The stands are substantial and sturdy. The clamps are strong and easy to use. The 85 watt cfl lights are bright enough to allow me to work at faster shutter speeds - and they'll last for years. My kit arrived just a couple of days after I ordered it. I've been using it for about a year and am VERY satisfied. I recommended it to a photographer friend of mine, and she loves hers too. All of this quality - and at a great price. You can't go wrong with this set.

Excellent Value Jun 09, 2010
By Philip Kristen Coltart I have had my light set and am still impressed with the quality of all the items that comes with it. The stands are solid, the bag was surprisingly well made and tough. The umbrellas still open and close well and we are talking three years of solid use. The best part is the neutral light that these bulbs give off. They are super bright, nice and white and yet you can pack them away again almost instantly as they run so cool. No more models getting hot under the lights! A great kit and a great price.

Lights, Camera, Savings. Jun 09, 2010
By David I went the local photo store looking for lights, but they starred at $699. I went back and found these on the internet for a fraction of the price, and they work great. These lights exceeded explications for a fraction of the cost. Great deal and I am looking forward to getting another set.

SP2700 Professional PhotoUmbrella by Square Perfect Jun 09, 2010

I work freelance, and I need a light kit that travels well. This kit is compact and the carrying case is handy. It provides more than enough light for portraits even in low light situations. The stands are pretty sturdy but the lights really do heat up ... you just have to be careful handling them when you are done with your shoot and packing them up :-) Overall, a good value for the money.
