I can't say enough about this little guy... Mar 23, 2007
By G. Cirelli As a sewer for 30 years, some of that time professionally, I can say that this is a great product. No, it's not a regular sewing machine, but this little guy can certainly do your mending work. I bought this because my dogs tore some holes in their bed, and I didn't want to drag out the full size sewing machine. Well, it just chug-chug-chugged through four layers of fleece. Job done!
Also, this Amazon affiliate is top notch. I got it in three days, and they test it for you before they ship it, so what can you lose?

Great value for money! Very handy machine to have around! Sep 29, 2008

Portable, sews very well for small jobs. BUT, please do not follow instructions given in the accompanying documentation fully: the manual says to thread through the spring loaded capstan at the top (for thread tension) a few times. Instead, just send the thread once or twice at the lowest position of the spring loaded capstan and see if you can manually pull the thread easily without a hitch. If you can pull manually, then you are set. Rest of the instructions are fine.
The best mini, portable sewing machine ever for small jobs!
Would have been nice to include the power adapter, but for this price, I am asking too much! You can use any available general purpose power adapter for the same specifications (DC voltage and amp ratings!).
Update: Most people who gave a low rating for this product gave it because of the thread tension issues caused by following the instructions for this model - they all complain thread breaks etc. Read my review above and you have a great product. This product really deserves a 4.5 to 5 stars (only minor issue being this spring loaded capstan at the top).

Nice for quick repairs or small projects Jul 31, 2007
By maximum verbosity We bought this for our 6 year old daughter to learn to sew with, but I've used it a couple of times while my machine is in for repairs. It's not a bad little machine! It has 2 speeds and stops/starts with a button, rather than a foot pedal. It doesn't do reverse and the stitches are just one size, nothing fancy. But, it's just the right size for my daughter and very simple to use. I doubt I would have the patience to use this for making clothes or anything, but for simple repairs or for a nice machine that's inexpensive to teach a little one to sew, this is perfect. I didn't rate it 5 stars only because it didn't come with an a/c adapter, so it runs the batteries down pretty quickly.

it did it's job Oct 09, 2007
By P. Thao I read the reviews before buying and I thought, "hey, this sounds like it works." Anyway, I worked great when I was sewing my khaki pants. However, with my jeans, the machine couldn't sew over the sides because it was thick, so it skipped the side and continue sewing. Aside from not sewing the sides, it worked well. It is kind of noise but it works. Its good for fixing things and sewing little things. Overall, I like it. I e-mail the company and they never reply back about where I can get the cord.

Great product! Sep 04, 2006
By Julia This products actually works. The Handystitch, which is popular, is made poorly and doesn't even start. The Mini Rex has features similar to normal sized machines and is perfect for the apartment person.
