an actual potters wheel Oct 18, 2006
By Kathleen Edwards

I would never have considered it except I saw it in action over the weekend. A fellow potter was doing a demo on it and I fell in love. He sat it on top of a bucket and went to town. (no, he didn't use the legs) He has used his for a couple of years now and wouldn't part with it - I offered to buy it from him .
In general, I like kick wheels, not electric wheels. But this one is different. It can go REALLY slow and quite fast. The speed is controlled by a little knob - not a foot petal which gives you a lot more control - set it and it stays at that speed. No wet clay colapsing from a suddenly speeding wheel caused by an accidental nudge of the foot as you change positions. It is just the right size - full sized wheel head (11 inches) and weight - 26 pounds. It uses regular bats (it also comes with the weird square one).
I wouldn't recomend it for production potting - throwing 20 pound pots, but it is just right for a person like me that throws and trims a few pots a week and wants a wheel that doesn't take up a lot of precious floor space, nor weigh half a ton. It isn't a junky toy, which is what I thought when I first looked at it. It actually works. This is now on my Christmas list. I will add another review after I use mine.

Great Little Wheel May 24, 2009
By Army Wife I had seen this wheel here on Amazon and I thought on it for a year before purchasing the item. I had read the other review and decided that I had to try this wheel because I can't afford a full-sized wheel and my husband is in the Army so I want a wheel that can travel and also fit in a small house the next time that I move.
I shopped around to see if there was a better price and though I saw it for a better price, the shipping was OUTRAGIOUS! I ordered from Amazon because the shipping made it a value. Not only did it cost less, it also took less time because Amazon ships UPS, as oppposed to having it trucked across the country!
This wheel is so quiet. I had been using wheels at the local community center and never did I realize that they were noisy until I got this little baby. I can watch a movie or listen to the radio with no troubles when I am using this wheel.
The wheel is also very easy to clean. I did have a little trouble with the drip pan but with a minimal amount of practice, and after watching the DVD that came with it I have no trouble with it anymore.
I love that it comes with two buckets. My tools go in one bucket and water in the other so that everything I need is right there as I need it. They sit on either side of the motor, which you can see as the brown part that is sticking up behind the splash pan.
This wheel does not come with a foot pedal. You can order one, but I wouldn't because I love that the speed is constant and can't be altered by accident because I wasn't paying attention to my feet.
The wheel comes with bat pins and two pats. I did not care for the plastic bats that came with it but I think it is just a matter of taste. They work just fine and are easy to find at my local cermaics supply store.
I did not buy the folding legs that you can get for this wheel. I would love to have them but it's not in the budget, so I have mine on a plastic storage tub. Amazingly, this wheel is so light-weight that it has been a perfect base for throwing until I get the legs.
I brought this wheel to pottery class because we had a shortage of wheels and it was a hit! Everyone had to stop by for a look and they all were impressed with it. I have never centered more than 5 lbs of clay on it but I believe that if I possessed the skill to attempt it, this wheel could keep up with me.
This is a great buy and I recommend it highly.

I have been teaching art for grades 1-12 for 2 years. This wheel is very economical and delivers well for light-medium classroom use. For someone who does not plan on being a production potter and does not have thousands of dollars at their disposal I would recommend this wheel. You will not be disappointed. Just make sure you have a low table to work on.

By Craetacus This is all around the best wheel I've ever used. It is well built, solid, and very durable. I could not be happier.

Right Wheel for the Right Price Jun 01, 2009
By Matthew J. Meyer

I've been cruising the internet for the best price on this wheel and have seen some listings on Amazon that are off the mark. MSRP is $425.00. I have found additional mainstream suppliers providing this product for $376 with shipping included (ground shipping to the continental U.S.)
I have not used or purchased the wheel, so I cannot comment futher on that.
