A must have Jul 09, 2009

"Be true to yourself."
Too bad there wasn't a way of rating higher than a five, these scissors are amazing!! I was lucky enough to get my hands on a pair the other day and I am in heaven. The spring action on it is just enough it helps every cut. I had decided I was sick of the lower quality scissors from off brands, cutting through fabrics were a chore, even with the the shears being sharp. I was so surprised to find that when I cut through some thick fabric a couple of days ago with my Gingher Spring Action Shears that it was like cutting through butter. They hold their edge incredibly well.
The length of the shears is great too, especially if you have a lot of fabric to cut in one sitting. I would recommend this product hands down without any reservations at all. Yes it can be pricey but you are getting quality and a brand that you can trust. They sharpen your scissors for life, how cool is that?
Since I got this pair of scissors, I am now looking at getting a great deal of the different types they put out. Each scissor has its own place on what it is good for, so keep it mind as you shop their line.
Anyone that does a lot of tailoring, stuffed animals, etc; these are great!
One last word of advice, never use them for anything but fabric and they will last you your whole life. Using them to cut anything else will destroy the blades.

Wonderful Pair of Scissors Aug 25, 2010
By A of the M's I sew about 12 hours a day and use a combination of a rotary cutter and of course, shears. I saw that Gingher, the best brand in my opinion, had the spring action added to their line so I tried a pair. The spring is not so taut that they jump open, in fact, it feels as if you are opening the scissors when the spring is doing it for you. It takes some of the pressure off of your hands and fingers as you cut with them. It is amazing how much this little extra really helps. I will never go back to the prior pair without the spring action. I am really spoiled now!

very painful to use Feb 25, 2011

I would give these scissors 5 stars if they weren't to painful to use! They cut very well, mainly fabric, which is what I use them for, but they hurt my fingers. The handles are so hard and painful to use, they pinch a nerve in my big finger and I can't even use them for more than a minute before I have to stop to relax my hand. I don't know if other people experience this problem, I never had this happening ever, with any scissors! I had to roll fabric around the handles just so I can use them! If you have small hands, beware! You might have a hard time using these scissors.

Great product for the price Oct 08, 2010
By Kaye I ordered these shears because my girlfriend was saying how much she liked hers. I haven't had a chance to actually use them, but I did try them out on some scrap fabric and I believe they are going to work for me just fine. The spring action is just right, just lifts the blade so that you can move right along, a very natural operation to me. It's almost as if you opened the blades yourself before moving ahead. I tried them on both several layers of denim and some very light weight silk. They cut through the heavy denim like butter and worked beautifully on the silk as well.
I think that I will be very happy with these. I have HIDDEN them from my pesky family. They will NOT be used to cut construction paper and plastic packages!!!! :-)

Far from great Jun 17, 2011
By Phyllis F. Perkins What a disappointment! I know the reputation for Gingher shears to be top notch so I thought these would be a welcome addition to my sewing equipment. Weeks later, the nerve in my thumb is still not fully recovered. The problem is with the spring mechanism, I think. I mean when you are through with a cut, the shears spring open. However, the force needed to cut with the shears isn't helped at all by the spring, and, I think, it may make the cutting action harder. Opening shears after a cut isn't hard, it is the closing action through various weights of fabric where you put pressure on your hand. So I count these shears -- which, to be fair, do have a sharp blade -- not a help and were uncomfortable to use.
