Full of features but... Jan 31, 2009
By Jeffster This electronic chess game has a lot of useful and nice features, but there is one major flaw, the touch screen has no back light and it's definitely a disadvantage when trying to play in low light. Don't be fooled by the "bright lcd screen" feature that's in the box.
Without a bright screen is almost impossible to play most of the time, specially playing chess and trying to concentrate.
Excalibur should know better.

returned! Jan 19, 2009
By P. Delcastillo
"teacher"
I returned the item because I could hardly see the game. It would be great if it had a light in the back or made the game pieces darker.

Piece of junk Jan 14, 2009
By A. Morin This product is not as good as the picture. The display does not light up, therefore you can't see the chess pieces. It is very difficult to follow. Return, return, return...

overpriced paperweight Jun 13, 2009
By Shazriel
"My tastes are simple; I am easily satisfied with the best."
If it has all the features it claims to have this is pretty cool for the price. I wouldn't know because the lack of back light made the screen impossible to see. Not sure what they mean on the box when they say 'Easy-to-read LCD. I was able to read it when sitting directly beside a bright lamp and angling it to catch as much light as possible. For any real situation it's basically unusable.
Actually, it's not that heavy either so it wouldn't even make a very good paperweight!

Bestest gift for the chess addict in my life... Sep 01, 2008
By Jennifer Emerson My brother-in-law is addicted to chess. He plays anytime he can find a minute to squeeze it in. This pocket version made a perfect gift for him. At first, I thought it might not be challenging enough for him, but it goes everywhere with him and he was very pleased!
