I love these pencils May 27, 2010
By J. Beaulieu

This is the first time I've tried Derwent products, and I like them so much that I've ordered a whole batch more of what this British company has to offer.
The pencils are all you'll ever possibly need to get started with (if you're new to drawing), and if you've been drawing for a decent period of time and haven't been terribly pleased with products you've previously tried, buy this set.
The tin the pencils are packaged in is marvelous -- people who have pets who have TEETH will really understand why I love the tin so much. No dogs will chew up your pencils and no cats will leave little kitty-chewing marks on them.
You get a wide range of pencils -- from the very soft to the very hard -- and Derwent gives you extremely good quality.
Given that I've just ordered more Derwent products, it's obvious that I love these pencils. I expect anyone else who picks up this set will feel the same way.

Excellent pencils Jan 11, 2012
By Hunter Blackstone Of Mars Lithograph (Staedtler) and some of the other popular brands, I prefer the Derwent Graphic for graphite pencils. I believe they layer better, are smooth, and I haven't run into as many clay spots (scratchy areas) as some other brands (especially Generals). I tried Blick brand studio pencils as well and while they're OK, I like the Derwent. Mars Lithograph 8B, however, is a nice pencil if you like a Carbon/Graphite mix. Since I haven't ever tried the Hi-Uni Mitsubishi pencils from Japan, I'm not sure how the Derwent Graphic compare to those.
I have a fairly old set of Derwent Graphics that still have "Rexel Cumberland" printed on the pencil (in addition to Derwent). Back then, their Tin's were hinged and opened/closed like a book. Now, the tins are not hinged. The tray holding the pencils is cheaper too. While it's still an adequate holder for the pencils, I'd recommend a canvas pencil wrap or pencil case to protect the set and their points.

This is the most complete graphite pencil set I have ever owned. The pencils are of top quality and the case is nice and durable. I would recommend this set to anyone who is looking for a great set of pencils for drawing and rendering work.

Awesome Pencils Nov 21, 2011
By AlbinoFoxRacer An awesome set of graphic pencils for even experienced artists to use. I have been drawing for about 15 years now and I have to say, these pencils are the best pencils I have ever used. They are very comfortable to hold, sketch, and draw with. Do not be afraid to purchase these pencils if you're contemplating it.

Amazing pencils Aug 14, 2011
By Marcieness I have been drawing since 07 and have tried out many different pencil brands. I found that Derwent graphic pencils are the best pencils to get the quality finish that an artist looks for.
Normally they're expensive out of store, but I came on amazon and found this set for 12$, and I knew I just had to have it. I already had the 12 soft graphic pencil kit, but I wanted the hard pencils as well as a double of the ones I already. Always good to have back up pencils when you're an artist!
I highly recommend this brand of pencil. If you are a serious artist, like to make detailed sketches or architect even, the Derwent brand is brilliant.
