Good Starter Kit Jan 27, 2009
By liz
"jamms"
This kit has all you need for candle making. Things I would like to see added are more wax, longer wicks, and more colors. The instructions are basic, you will need a good book to get into advanced candle making. The material is quality, the thermometer is very nice.

Basic candlemaking kit Jan 06, 2009
By E. Collier It has everything you need to get started. My only quibble is that the molds that came with my kit are plastic and not metal.

Cheap and confusing...not worth the money. Dec 28, 2010
By Canda 2007 In my opinion, this kit is not worth the money (even though it was cheap). Other reviewers are correct that you don't get everything shown in the photo, and if you do, it's packaged poorly so it's difficult to tell. The instructions are confusing...sometimes lacking explanation, other times being overly repetitive. It's definitely not good for someone wanting a basic beginner's kit, especially since the instructions themselves recommend that you have an additional candle making book on hand. I also wouldn't recommend this for kids because I don't trust the instructions to be safe.
I ended up with three poor quality "candles" and a big mess to clean up, and three hours of wasted time. The kit claims to make nine candles but I had barely enough wax to make the first three. I don't know how they expect you to make triple that amount, so keep in mind it likely only makes three. Or, my kit was missing extra wax, which wouldn't surprise me either.
While I haven't tried any other beginners, all-in-one kits out there, I can say with definitiveness that I do not recommend this kit. Such a letdown. :-(

fairly simple Nov 13, 2010
By Alan Shalloway This will make only very small candles (1" wide maybe 2" tall).
Better to just get a candy thermometer & some wicks and wax. Instructions poor. However, the wax thermometer (which you don't need) and the pot are probably worth the money.
You are better off finding a candle making supply store, however.
