Great buy for the money Oct 31, 2007

I purchased these needles in 3 lengths and was delighted. They are well made and feel good in my hands. There is some resistance in the wood, so they are great for making socks and hats where stitches slipping off the needle are a problem. The tips are well formed, but could stand to be a little more pointed. For the cost they are an excellent buy.

9" Double Point Bamboo knitting needles May 22, 2008

These needles are quite good. They are not finished (as Clover dbl pts are), but with a bit of carnuba wax, they are perfect. They seem to have a tendency to splinter a bit, but that is because I haven't had the time to wax all of them. I do like them and they definitely enhance my needle collection.

Decent quality for bargain bamboo needles Jan 14, 2009
By Kestrel If you've tried knitting socks or small hats with steel double-pointed needles, you've probably experienced the frustration of having a needle slip out and clatter to the floor. Bamboo needles are one solution. The slight grip to the wooden surface prevents needle-slip, and the warm texture is nicer to work with than cold steel.
The downside to wood needles is the cost. This entire set of bamboo DPNs for one low price seemed too good to be true. On inspection I found that while the quality of the finish isn't quite up to the silky smoothness of Takumi Clover bamboo needles, it comes pretty close. The extra grip would be a plus for slippery fibers like silk, "soy silk," and linen.

<3 these! Nov 19, 2009

i love these! i ordered them because i was new at using dpn's & pretty much knitting altogether! i bought a few sizes at hobby lobby (metal), but wasn't familar with matching yarn and my gauge and needle size. so i thought....do i want to have to keep putting my projects - or better described as experiments at that point - on hold until i can get back to hobby lobby for different sized needles, or do i want to order this set & have tons of sizes right at home? bought the first set - 9 inch - Chrismas of '08 & bought a 7 inch set a few weeks ago. 7 inch for socks, slippers, and gloves - 9 inch for hats, scarfs, etc. i read that if they do bend you can stick them under the faucet and dampen them then roll them on a table & the will straighten easily. they must be tough because i leave them everywhere, car, couch, i did have a set mildew a bit because i left my project out in the rain. ;) if anyone happens to read this that has not discovered [...] - google it right now! millions of free patterns & endless info & help! search me - loripeden!

Amazing quality for the price! Feb 24, 2010

These needles are just as good as any expensive brands. I've had them for six moths already and have used them for various projects esp. for knitting up christmas gifts. I even used the size 1's for mittens and didn't have problems with them. They are like 9 in toothpicks but worked quite well. They did warp a little from continual use. They have not splintered or broken. They're extremely smooth. Prior to buying these I only used metal ones but this bamboo needles are much better and I never lost stitches on my work bc a needle slipped off like it does on metal one's. Overall I'm very satisfied with my purchase. If you're new to knitting then this is definitely a great investment.
